OPENING IN DECEMBER 2004, BIGBOPPA'S IS, IN 2024, CELEBRATING ITS 20th ANNIVERSARY
Although BIGBOPPA'S is a private members club, guests are welcome to come along and listen to some of the best RnR and Rockabilly bands currently playing in the UK. Admission to JIVIN' WEDNESDAYS is on a first come, first served basis with payment taken on the door. Admission to FRIDAY and SATURDAY SPECIALS is by pre-paid ticket only and these may be ordered by telephone, the number is on the left.
Every second Wednesday of each month is a Jivin' Wednesday when bands specialising in 50s music perform to club members and their guests. These nights are opportunities for those who like to 'get on the dance floor' and jive. Many of the bands that perform on these Wednesdays star at Rock'n'Roll Weekenders in both this country and in Europe.
On December 11th 2024 BIGBOPPA'S will celebrate both its 20th anniversary and its
208th Jivin' Wednesday.
In addition to Jivin' Wednesdays, BIGBOPPA'S also hosts Friday and Saturday Specials throughout the year when audiences can appreciate the talents of other groups and artistes in tribute style shows. These shows have celebrated the music of Elvis, The Beach Boys, ABBA, The Rat Pack, Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, The Blues Brothes, Roy Orbison, Tamla Motown, The Beatles, Buddy Holly and the best 60s cover band in the world, The Overtures. In 2011 The Barron Knights played BIGBOPPA'S.
In the summer of 2023, BIGBOPPA'S presented its first 'stage musical' when performers from Magnetic Entertainment came along to re-enact scenes from Dirty Dancing and Grease. In the summer of 2024 BIGBOPPA'S, again working with Magnetic Entertainment, staged scenes from Mamma Mia, The Musical.
